Rare photo-op

The kids were in unusually cooperative moods after naptime today so I whipped out the camera and took advantage :)

Winter blahs...

Haven't posted in a few days. I guess I'd have to say it's because life is boring, lol. Well, lets not say boring. More like monotonous. I am so incredibly sick of winter that I could scream. I just want to take the kids outside to play in the warm sunshine and breathe in some fresh air. Seriously, major case of cabin fever here!
I can tell the kids have got it too because they are driving eachother, and me, nuts!
Last weekend in an effort to get out of the house and let the kids burn some steam we went to a park nearby. There was still quite a bit of snow on the ground, everything was wet and muddy, but it was 38 degrees which is the warmest it's been here in weeks so we had to take advantage. The kids had a blast and I got a few cute pictures. By the time we were done they were soaked and cold! So we came home, knocked back some hot chocolate, and took some naps :)

This week feels never-ending. Monday was President's day, but Hollie's school doesn't have classes on Mondays, so they decided to be closed on Tuesday instead. So Hollie was pretty bummed, and I must say so was I! I hate to sound like I look forward to pawning her off for a few hours, but I do enjoy the down time and one on one time with Mavrick. She goes back to school tomorrow, so Mav and I are going to go do something special. I don't know what yet, but we are definitely getting out of the house!

On another note, my friend Tiara and her gorgeous little boys from Indonesia are in FL for a visit. They'll be in the US for a month or so, and she was planning to come to visit me while they're here as along as it's within budget. But she's been state-side for two weeks now, and I haven't heard anything from her so I'm a little bummed. I know she is busy and trying to make time to visit all her friends and family in FL, but I was hoping to get to talk to her while she's here since it's so expensive to call Indo. I hope she knows that if she isn't able to fly in to visit us I wont be upset with her at all. (Sad yes, but mad no). I really hope she's having a good time in FL. I miss them SO much!

A trip down memory lane... *sniff, sniff*

Tired kids make me happy :)

This weekend we stayed home. We didn't go anywhere or do anything. It was really nice to just bum around the house, play with the kids, and get caught up on some things around here. But after two days of doing nothing, the kids were wound up tight this morning. Since it was snowing and cold outside, I decided to take the kids up to the mall to walk around and burn some energy. Thank-you to whoever decided play area's in malls was a good idea. They really do help mom's everywhere keep their sanity during the winter!
Anyway, we invited our good friend's Tracy and Nick to come play with us and the kids all had a blast. We were there for two hours, Mav fell asleep on the way home around 12:45 and slept until 4:30! He hadn't even had lunch yet so he must have been completely exhuasted. I knew he would wake up starving though so I was prepared :)
Hollie managed to stay awake until we got home and ate some soup and a sandwich before taking a 3 hour nap. I really should do that more often!!
Here they are taking a ride on Thomas the train :)

Also today, got an email today confirming my flight information for our trip to SanFrancisco :) SO excited! Took some pictures of my Uncle Rick's coloring book for his website. And managed to get the laundry caught up. I love busy days <3

Now if only it would quit snowing!

Oh...and I vow to get back on the eliptical tomorrow after not working out for 3 days :/ Working out in the basement is not fun at all so I'm having a hard time forcing myself to go down there. Once I'm there, I'm good. I really need to find my iPod charger....hopefully having some music will help.

PAT, wagon ride, San Fran, and Say WHAT?!

This morning Amy (our Parent's as Teacher esducator) came over for Hollie and Mav's assessments. Basically she plays fun games with the kids and notes how they are developing. She mostly focused on Hollie today so Mav was just kind of playing along and learning cool new tricks like how to kick a soccer ball :)
After Amy's visit Hollie was wound up tight so we played bowling in the living room and then some more soccer while Mav took a nap. Thank goodness we have a good sized living room! It's amazing how much energy these little monkeys can store up! I am SO very ready for spring to bring warmer weather for playing outside!
After lunch we all went outside for a wagon ride. Since the sun was shining and it was a little above 40 degrees I thought we should head out for some fresh air. This was our first wagon ride since they got their new wagon for Christmas. Mav wanted to walk at first, but soon his legs got tired and he decided riding wasn't so bad after all. Hollie ended up pulling the wagon most of the time, and she did a great job entertaining Mavrick along the way too :) Not to mention burned off some more energy :)
All in all, not a bad morning.

This afternoon I got a text from Dennis asking if I wanted to go to San Francisco. Um...Heck YES!!! His company is having some geek convention (no offense to any geeks out there) in April and they asked him to go. They are paying his way 100% so we just have to pay for my travel expenses. I am so excited!! He will be busy during the days with work stuff, but will be free in the afternoons and evenings. I can't wait to spend my days riding the tolley's and taking pictures, and the evenings taking it all in with Dennis :) YAY!!!

Some slightly less exciting news (ok, down right depressing news) is that we found out this afternoon that the sales tax on our new car is over $4000! GOOD GRAVY! How rediculous is that?? On top of that we have to pay personal property tax and of course all the licensing fees. Blahhhhh. I miss Florida. They don't have personal property tax, and sales tax is way cheaper. Hmphhhhh.

I end the day with some cute pictures of my phone obsessed boy...

"Help! My mom's gone crazy!!"

"The wait time is how long??"

"Don't make me reach through this phone..."

"This is gunna take a while..."

"Here...have some!"

Oh....did I mention we're going to San Francisco??? :D

Pasta and Cactus

Today was not the best of days. Teething + Colds = Cranky people. No major incidents or funny mishaps today, just two whining kids and a mom who threw in the towel at 1:00pm by making them take early naps. All I have to say is I hope tomorrow is better!

I HAD to get groceries today though for fear we'd all starve if I didn't. But there was no way I was taking both kids, so I waited for Dennis to get home from work to go. Luckily the kids woke up in slightly better moods, so Dennis didn't complain about keeping Hollie while Mav and I went to the grocery store. I was kind of hoping to get off scott free....but decided not to push my luck considering he got his fair dose of them over the weekend!

Anyway, I decided a few days ago that I am going to attempt making something different for dinner every night this month. I think the Food Network is my new best friend :) Tonight I was going to make Orecchiette Pasta with italian sausage, grape tomatoes, garlic and spinach. But I couldn't find any orecchiette at the super market, so I improvised and used rigatoni instead. It looked every bit as good as it was :)

Oh! And to my surprise, one of my houseplant's actually bloomed today! That's a first for me and I am super excited about it! I don't exactly have a green thumb, so I'm really not sure how I got so lucky....hmmmm
Easter Cactus...

Shopping & Rodeoing

Last weekend went by way too fast. I was hardly home, and hardly saw Dennis at all :( On Saturday Hollie and I went shopping all day with mom. I was looking for a shower curtain and decor for the kids bathroom, but found nada. Instead I did get a bunch of random stuff that I didn't know I needed! Hollie has a cold, so she wasn't feeling great, but she was a (slightly whiny) trooper and enjoyed spending the day with grandma.
While we were out shopping, Dennis was at home constipating Mavrick with bananas and junk food. Joy.

On Sunday I was totally psyched to veg in my jammies at home all day, when I got a call from Uncle Rick asking if I'd like to come with them to the MoKan Rodeo and take pictures. I jumped at the opportunity to practice shooting since I knew they would be indoors with low-light and lots of action. I ended up being thoroughly discusted with my current set up, and have decided that as soon as I can afford one I am getting the super awesome Canon 70-200 IS zoom lens! Can't. Wait.! Until then, I doubt I'll be taking any more low-light sporting event pictures, lol. They all turned out really grainy because I had to shoot in such a high ISO, and blurry because I couldn't shoot with a high enough shutter speed with the flash on. Grrrrr. I did manage to salvage one shot. It's not perfect, but at least the day was not a total waste of effort.
Here is a picture of my aweome bull-fighting cousin Cody Lunceford...

Oh, also, it was freeeeezing. They don't have heat in their indoor arena. A big thank-you to Aunt Kim for brining their propane heater lamp. Without it my toes would have been popsicles!
